Three years ago, she ventured outside her comfort zone to play a troubled sister in the family drama In Her Shoes. It was well received by the critics, but it flopped.
Then last year she was back in distinctly dizzy-Diaz mode in the comedy What Happens In Vegas, which got dire reviews but was a huge hit, earning more than £150million. It enabled her to demand - and get £10million for future films, making her one of the highest-paid actresses in the world.
